| BACKGROUND:
Arguably the most accomplished athlete in the history of the Canadian skeleton program, Jeff Pain has also solidified himself as one of the top athletes in the world having won nearly everything available in his sport. Jeff is a multiple World Cup champion, a two-time World Champion and Olympic silver medallist.
Jeff’s breakthrough season came the year following the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City where he earned a gold medal at the World Championships, and a second-place finish in the Overall World Cup rankings.
After taking most of the 2003-04 season off due to a foot injury, Jeff returned with a vengeance in 2004-05, claiming both the men’s Overall World Cup title and top spot on the podium at the World Championship. He repeated as Overall World Cup titleholder in 2005-06, and capped off his wildly successful campaign with a silver medal at the Torino Olympic Winter Games.
Jeff continued his climb back to the top of the international standings in 2009-10, with 5 top 10 finishes on the World Cup Circuit leading into the 2010 Olympic Games. Jeff ended the season with a 9th place finish at the Olympics and recorded some of the fastest speeds ever reached in skeleton.
Jeff's skeleton career will long be remembered as one of the most decorated and successful journies in Canadian Amateur athletics, and certainly in the sport of skeleton.
