MICHELLE KELLY

Height: 1.62 m
Weight: 63 kg
Date of Birth:  November 7, 1974
Place of Birth: Fort St. John, B.C.
Residence:  Calgary, AB

BACKGROUND:
Michelle started her sliding sports career in 1994 when she joined the National Bobsleigh Team. A few years into her short-lived bobsleigh career, Michelle accepted a dare to give skeleton a try – and she loved it. The decision to switch sports was a wise one, as Michelle has become one of the most dominant racers on the World Cup skeleton circuit.

Michelle is the first Canadian woman to win an Overall World Cup title, the first Canadian woman to win a World Championship title, and the only female competitor anywhere to win both titles in the same season, which she did in 2003. She also competed at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City where she finished 10th.

After falling short of qualifying for the internationally dominant Canadian Olympic Skeleton Team in 2006, Michelle is on a mission to climb her way back to the top of the international rankings, and is focused on sliding to the podium at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Michelle finished second overall on the World Cup in 2007-08, and is determined to slide to the podium each time she hits the start line.
