| BACKGROUND:
Dan Humphries was introduced to bobsleigh in 2002 while serving in the Royal Air Force as an aircraft engineer. He was asked to try out by a member of the Great Britain Team when training at the track one day. Four years later, Dan was representing Great Britain at the Olympic Winter Games in Torino where he finished 15th in the two-man race.
Following the Olymipcs, Dan returned to Canada to be closer to his Canadian-born parents where he joined the successful Canadian program and married the pilot of the women’s Canada 2 sled – Kaillie Simundson (Humphries).
With sights set on competing for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver-Whistler, Dan earned a spot in Pierre Lueders’ sled or the 2008-09 season.
When not training or competing, Dan enjoys playing rugby and has a martial arts background. Dan competed internationally at both sports while studying at the University of Great Britain.
